Often referred to as a European or Western Honey Bee these little guys are widely spread due to their sought after honey, beeswax and pollination ability.
This year we have chosen to feature a Queen European Honey bee! Queens have an enlarged abdomen and are the only female within the colony with reproductive capabilities. They are often marked by a coloured spot on their thorax with different colours indicating the year the queen was introduced. This also helps beekepers find their queens in those busy busy hives!
